School Management Committees of DSS SchoolsNote
Every DSS school without an IMC shall be managed by its management committee.
Responsibilities of Management Committee
The management committee of a school shall be responsible for ensuring that-
- the school is managed satisfactorily
- the education of the pupils is promoted in a proper manner
- the Education Ordinance is complied with
Information of Managers on Management Committees of DSS Schools
The Working Group on Direct Subsidy Scheme set up in February 2011 and chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Education favoured requiring all DSS schools to make transparent the composition of their school governing bodies. In its Report issued in December 2011, the Working Group recommended that consent to disclosure of information including name, tenure of office / date of registration and category of school manager be sought from the managers of non-IMC DSS schools for uploading such information on the EDB Homepage for public reference with a view to increasing the transparency and accountability of these schools.
A "List of Managers Who Agreed to Disclose Their Personal Data" has been compiled for individual schools and posted onto this website. Information includes a manager's name, tenure of office / date of registration and the category of manager he/she belongs to.
Separately, in respect of those managers who have not given consent to disclosure of their personal data, we have compiled below the above list information showing the respective categories of these managers and the number of managers for each of these categories.
You are reminded that our purpose of providing the personal data of managers is to enhance the transparency of management committees. In this respect, you should not use the data for any purpose not related to the afore-said purpose.
If an Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) has been established in respect of a DSS school in accordance with the Education Ordinance (Cap. 279), the school shall be managed by its IMC. In respect of each IMC, the name and tenure of office of each manager and the category of manager to which he/she belongs shall be made available for public inspection to ensure transparency and accountability of the IMC.
